New Site: Experiment in Definitions
April 13, 2009
Each of us goes through periods of self-evaluation. Humanity is not so different from its fellow earth-bound inhabitants. The humble hermit crab scurries from shell to larger shell as its little proportions increase. The snake slithers out of its used and worn skin even as it forms a new one. Catapillars transmorth to fair butterflies , birds suffer the molt to emerge ready for the summer air. Anchor House of Artists (AHOA), by design is a place of transformative self-evaluation for all of the artists in studio day-residence here.
In a current period of growth and redistribution of resources, AHOA is undergoing a process of self-evaluation, and this is the purpose of this site: to revisit our mission, to enable the artists voice, to invite our public to comment and to live up to our mantra–”creativity is an experiment with self-definition.”
Over the coming months, we invite you to watch and listen with us as posts contribute to a new understanding of our mission: to subsidize the studio lives of artists living with mental illnesses, to represent and preserve their artwork, to fight the stigma they face, and to contribute to the cultural enrichment of Western Massachusetts and bey0nd.
